A.To dealing with requests for mutual legal assistance from authorities designated by States parties to the Convention: Office of the Attorney-General of Colombia [Attorney-General`s Office [Attorney-General`s Office] B.To request mutual legal assistance from the authorities designated by the other States Parties to the Convention: a.Office of the Attorney-General of Colombia (Diagonal 22B No. 52-01, Ciudad Salitre, Bogotá, Colombia): for investigations conducted by this body b.Ministry of Justice (Avenida Jiménez No. Reservations: (upon accession) The Government of Jamaica makes the following reservations to articles 5, 9, 1, 7 and 27: With respect to article 5, the Government of Jamaica reserves the right to refuse assistance if the conduct giving rise to the request does not constitute a criminal offence under Jamaican law. With respect to article 9, the Government of Jamaica reserves the right to refuse assistance if: (i) steps are to be taken to ensure that the request cannot lawfully be made in Jamaica in respect of criminal cases taking place in Jamaica; or (ii) any required confidentiality with respect to the information or evidence is not protected. With respect to article 17, the Government of Jamaica reserves the right to reject a request for service of a procedure that requires the presence of a person in a court of the requesting State or in respect of which a penalty or other criminal sanction is imposed under the law of the requesting State for failure to comply with the requirements of this document. With respect to article 27, the Government of Jamaica reserves the right to require that documents processed by the Central Authority of the requesting State be certified as complying with Jamaican law. On 11 March 2005, El Salvador appointed the Minister for Foreign Affairs as the central authority competent to serve and receive letters rogatory in accordance with article 3 of the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. The Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Act (the Act) facilitates mutual legal assistance between Jamaica and other countries with which Jamaica has treaties on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters. While Jamaica sent nine requests for assistance to partners between April 2010 and March 2011, only one was closed. 3. In September 2019, Ecuador informed the depositary of the appointment of Diana Salazar Mendez, Attorney-General del Estado, as the central authority of the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. It was also reported that the focal point in the area of mutual legal assistance and extradition would be Patricia Alejandra Carrasco, Director of International Affairs. Designation of the Central Authority: Procuraduría General de la República (January 24, 2003) On 6 November 2015, Kazakhstan announced the designation of the “Office of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Department of International Cooperation)” as the central authority of the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. 13. In July 2012, Ecuador announced the designation of “Dr. Galo Chiriboga Zambrano – Attorney-General del Estado” as a central authority within the meaning of the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. On July 26, 2013, Costa Rica announced the designation of the Oficina de Asesoría Técnica y Relaciones Internacionales (OATRI) – Ministerio Público, Attorney-General`s Office of Costa Rica as the central authority of the American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. On April 26, 2022, the Permanent Mission of Argentina to the OAS informed the Depositary of the appointment of Aldana Rohr, Director of the Directorate of International Legal Assistance (DAJIN), as the central authority for the purposes of the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. The other request was from the United Kingdom, and the DPP`s report, prepared in September 2012, indicated that an arrest warrant for the fugitive`s extradition was being issued by the police. On 17 October 2019, the Secretariat General received from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the United States the instrument of accession to the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters, adopted on 23 May 1992 in Nassau, Commonwealth of the Bahamas. On 23 October 2009, the Republic of Guyana designated the Office of the Minister of the Interior as a Central Authority within the meaning of the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.
